Note: Some names, places, and dates shown are the best estimates of this
researcher and are so indicated. Any name, place, or date with words such
as about, maybe, or near associated with it should be independently verified
if exact data is required. The Wetzel family name is very difficult to
research because there were several early, large, and different Wetzel
families who were using the same given names for their children. Also there
is much erroneous research circulating around which many times leads new
researchers of this family name down the wrong trail. I am not a Wetzel
descendant. I researched the Wetzel family since Jacob Wetzel of Hereford
Township, Berks Co PA, was a neighbor of my ancestor, Adam Kerchner. One
of Adam's daughters, Eva Elizabeth Kerchner, married George Wetzel, Sr.,
son of Jacob Wetzel. Therefore, I researched the Wetzels in the hopes of
learning more about my early Kerchners. If you find errors in my research
and have the documentation to prove it, please feel free to contact me.
I am always open and receptive to new information and evidence. If you use
any information from these pages, please give proper credit.
Wetzel researchers may wish to contact John Wetzel for possible assistance
since he is a Wetzel descendant and an active Wetzel researcher. Please feel free to contact him if you have
information to share about Wetzels.
