Descendant Chart for Mary Racer of southeast Pennsylvania
She is my direct maternal line earliest known ancestor.
She was born in Pennsylvania in Mar 1770 allegedly of English Quaker parents.
But she may have been ultimately of Dutch Quaker or German Quaker origins.
She married on 3 May 1790 at the Swedes Church in Philadelphia PA to Isaac Levan.
Isaac Levan was from a German speaking French Huguenot family of Berks Co PA.
His family was of the Reformed Church religion as were most Huguenots.
My research indicates she lived with her husband Issac Levan in Berks County PA until he died in Feb 1819.
She then moved to Philadelphia PA and lived with her son William Levan who was a merchant in that city.
Mary died in Mar 1859 in Philadelphia PA and is buried in the Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia PA.
I have found her grave site. But there is no gravestone nor any additional information in her burial record.
In my efforts to trace her line further back, I have full sequence tested my mtDNA which I inherited from Mary Racer.
DNA testing is a new scientific tool to aide traditional genealogy research when we reach brick walls otherwise.
